WILLIAM I, (1066-1087) silver penny, PAXS type, Ipswich mint, issued 1083-1086, obv. crowned diademed bust facing with sceptre, rev. cross pattee in each angle, an annulet in each corner with one letter of the word PAXS, around +LIFPINE ON GIPSI (Lifwine of Ipswich), (S.1257; North 848, BMC viii, Br.VIII). Attractive portrait, attractively toned, nearly extremely fine.
