ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.320-290 B.C.), silver stater, (7.59 grams), obv. head of Demeter to left, with necklace, wreathed with barley leaves, hair visible under chin, rev. corn ear, META to right, tongs above stalk on left, and **[AQ]A to left under stalk, (cf.S.416, Johnston [NN&M 164] Class C, 4.17, Berlin specimen from Lobbecke [same dies]). Good very fine with some edge porosity, rare.
