ATTICA, Athens, (166-57 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.82 grams), issued 151-0 B.C., (Thompson date) but probably 129-8 B.C. (revised chronology), obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right wearing triple-crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with Pegasus, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, on prostrate amphora, to right Helios in quadriga facing, legend across **A YE, DIO NUSI, DIO [N]USI, [A]RIS, DI below, b? on amphora, all within wreath, (cf.S.2555, Thompson 557f [same obverse die]). Small flan, slightly off centred on reverse, very fine and very scarce.
