HADRIAN, (A.D. 117-138), silver cistophoric tetradrachm, Laodicea mint, (10.55 grams), obv. bare head of Hadrian to right, around HADRIANVS AVGVST[VS] P P, rev. Jupiter draped to left, standing holding eagle and sceptre, around COS III, (S.-, RIC 497, Metcalf 56, C.275). Very fine, the coin, overstruck on Augustus silver cistophorus with letters and devices visible on both sides as (RIC 476), and scarce.
