SARBADAR DYNASTY OF KHORASAN, temporary assigned to Hasan Damghani, (A.H. 759-763) (A.D. 1358-1362), silver six dirhems, Jajern mint, A.H. 763 = A.D. 1362, (A.2338, cf.M.1869). Flat in places, otherwise very fine and rare.
The Sarbadars ('Gallowbirds') were a Shiite sect in northeast Iran, who took control of most of the districts in Western Afghanistan that had acknowledged Ilkhan suzerainty and had defected soon after Abu Sa'id death in 736. This became the domain of Sarbadarid rebels who under the leadership of `Abd al Razzak rose against the Ilkhan governor in 737. The Sarbadarids later lost the Damaghan region to Amir Wali during the 760's and were later suppressed by Timur in 783.
