CHINA, A Chinese gold shoe-shaped Sycee, stamps on one side with 'ji ji' (double happiness), early 18th century, (380 grams), 4.9 cms long, 3.1 cms at widest point, 3.0 cms high at edge. Extremely fine and extremmely rare, one of only seven such ingots from the famous 'Nanking Cargo', in velvet lined Christie's Box with stamped petigree.

Ex. Wreck of the 'Geldernalsen' (1752) of the Zeeland Chamber of the Dutch East India Company. Part of 'The Nanking Cargo' sold Christie's Amsterdam, 28 April - 2 May 1986 (lot 1802) which is noted on the box.
