A HIGHLY IMPORTANT SPANISH DOLLARS CURRENCY NOTE. Bank of New South Wales, twenty Spanish dollars, Sydney, 1st Janauary 1824, No.31164 (MVR type 2) handsigned by directors Messrs. Edward Wollstonecraft and John Oxley and intered by James Phelps. The earliest issued banknote known from Australia. Two exaples are known in Westpac's archive. This note is mentioned by Hyuman and was exhibited at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago i 1893. Paper restored with rice paper backing some minor perforations otherwise good fine, excessively rare and of major historical importance, the only example available to collectors.
