THRACE ISLANDS, Thasos, (after 148 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.38 grams), obv. head of young Dionysos wearing ivy wreath to r., rev. Naked Herakles standing facing head to l., holding club and lion skin, (BMC 67, SNG Cop. 1048, S.1759). Very fine.

ex Spink Sydney, by private purchase Feb. 1977. This example is a more sensitive and Hellenistic portrait than usual.
