REPUBLIC-GENERAL ISSUE, silver dollar, dated year 16 (1927), obv. Dr. Sun Yat-sen facing, with legend indicating Chinese republic National Government, rev. mausoleum at Nanking, to left the setting sun, legend of One Yuan, made in the 16th year, (KM & Kann 609). Uneven dark tone, otherwise nearly uncirculated and very rare.

ex Money Company, Hong Kong sale, Sep. 6, 1985 (lot 696). The total mintage was 480 essay pieces at the Nanking mint. The trial coin was rejected because of a lack of likeness of the new portrait to President Sun Yat-sen
