REPUBLIC-GENERAL ISSUE, silver dollar, not dated but issued 1923, obv. President Tsao Kun facing in civilian dress, rev. crossed flags, (KM. & Kann 677). Uncirculated and scarce.
Tsao Kun was a general in the Chinese army who bribed his way to the presidency. He was a ruthless man with no statesmanship ability and was removed from office in 1924 and imprisoned until 1926. On regaining his freedom, he officially retired from the presidency.
