GEORGE VI, Royal Mint London, uniface proof striking of the reverse of the pattern shilling, 1937 (5. 68 grams). A brilliant proof with even light grey tone, FDC and excessively rare, the only known example in private hands.
Ex A.H. Baldwin Collection , Spink Australia Sale 8 (lot 550). The proof uniface silver strikings of British and Colonial coins depicting animals and birds were made especially for the Queen and her two daughters in Decembner 1937. The Royal Mint Collection contains an incomplete set. This coin is beleived to have passed from Sire Robert Johnson to Fred Baldwin at that time.
