MACEDON, Kingdom of Alexander III (the Great), (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, Aradus mint, issued c.311-300 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, anchor with monogram to left in field, wreath with Pi under throne, (Price 3359, SNG Cop. 790, cf.S.6713). Test cut into flan at base, otherwise good very fine.
The use of the anchor symbol does indicate the signature of Seleucus and relates to his return from Egypt after 311 B.C., when he recovered Babylon.
