HERACLIUS, (A.D. 610-641), follis, struck in Sicily in 631, with countermarks of Heraclius and monogram, on obverse and SCLs on reverse, overstruck on folles of Justin I, (S.882, D.O. 241). Cmks. fine, host coin good, scarce.

Most of these Sicilian countermarked issues were overstruck on coins 100 or more years old and are consequently very worn after such a long circulation.
