VESPASIAN (A.D. 69-79), denarius (possibly plated), Ephesus mint, issued 70, obv. laureate head to right, rev. PACI AVGVSTAE around to right EPHE, Victory advancing to right, holding wreath and palm, (RIC 333, S.--). Pitting flaw in field to left on obverse, otherwise nearly very fine and rare.

This issue commemorates the peace following the Jewish War of A.D.66-70. The issue struck at Ephesus is unusual in that it carries a mint signature, a practice not followed until over two centuries later.
