GENERAL GORDON'S STAR FOR THE SIEGE OF KHARTOUM. Pewter - missing crescent and star suspension. Rare. During the siege of Khartoum in 1884, General Gordon arranged for this unofficial medal to be cast, using his own example of the Order of the Mejidieh as the design. Very crudely cast in sand, these Stars were issued in pewter and silver.
