NERO, (A.D. 54-68), gold aureus, Rome mint, (7.26 grams), issued A.D. 66-67, obv. laureate head of Nero to right, around NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS, rev. Jupiter enthroned to left, holding thunderbolt and sceptre dotted border, around IVPPITER CVSTOS, (cf.S.673 (silver denarius), RIC 63, BMC 77). Polished surface, otherwise nearly very fine and rare.

The weight conforms to the average of the specimens in the British Museum.
