MAGNENTIUS, (A.D. 350-353), centenionalis, Amiens mint off flan, obv. bare headed bust to Magnentius to right, around traces of legend, rev. two Victories standing facing each other, shield between, chi-rho above, (cf.S.4024, RIC.20). Good very fine.
This issue displays the very rare intermediate form of the chi-rho symbol, the final form before its evolution into the traditional Christian cross.
