MAXIMUS, (Caesar A.D. 235-238), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 236-238, obv. bare bust of Maximus to right, around MAXIMVS CAES GERM, rev. Priestly emblems jug between lituus, knife and patera, to left simpulum and sprinkler to right, around PIETAS AVG, S C in exergue, (cf.S.2376, RIC 11, C.7). Attractive green and light brown patina, very fine and rare.
