SALUTE THE GREAT COALITION 1940-1945, in bronze (113mm), inscribed on reverse 'TO RICHARD CASEY / FROM / WINSTON CHURCHILL'. Very fine.

Richard Casey, born Brisbane 1890, educated Melbourne and Cambridge, served with the A.I.F. in World War I. Married Maie Ryan, daughter of Surgeon General Sir Charles Ryan. Elected to the Australian House of Representatives 1931, held postings in London and U.S. 1940-1944, re-elected to House of Representatives 1949,created a Life Peer in 1960 and was Governor General of Australia 1965-9. He became a Knight of the Garter in 1969.
