BOMBAY PRESIDENCY, Malabar Coast, copper pice, 1729, 1742, obv. balemark on obverse, rev. date in large numerals, half pice 1803 probably a local imitation (see Pridmore p.176), (Pr. 302, 307, 321, KM.150, 302, Atkins 49, 53, 59). Dumpy flans, fine and rare. (3)

Ex. Glendining's 1964. $$ These issues are much rarer than KM indicates. The 1729 date has not been offered for many years, and the 1742 only in the Pridmore sale and by Spink London in 1980. The Pridmore collection had specimens of only 1732 and 1742. The 1742 Pridmore specimen, which was double struck and partly flat, and graded fine, realised Å“70 in that sale in 1982 (lot 546).
