MACEDON, Kingdom of Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), gold stater, (8.60 grams), Teos mint, issued c.323-317 B.C., obv. head of Apollo to right with laureate wreath, rev. galloping biga driven by charioteer holding goad to right, filleted palm below, in exergue FILIPPOV, (cf.S.6663, Thompson Naster I, 13). Extremely fine and very rare.
