THESSALY, Thessalian League, (196-146 B.C.), silver double victoriatus, (5.98 grams), Larissa mint, obv. head of Zeus to right, crowned with oak leaves, rev. Athena Itonia advancing to right, brandishing spear and holding shield, on sides YESSAA LWN, above across [F]ILOXENIDHS, below across, DAMAYONOS, (cf.S.2232, BMC 33 [p.3]). Attractive light patina, well centred, extremely fine and very desireable.
