IONIA, Teos, (540-520 B.C.), silver stater, (11.77 grams), obv. griffin seated on back legs to right, on doted base, with foreleg raised, rev. quadripartite incuse square, (Balcer Swiss. Num. Rev. 1968, Group I, S.3512). Very fine and very rare.

Ex. Teos Hoard (c. 1980). $$ Balcer notes 12 specimens from Group I which have no inscription or symbol. A small number of specimens are known to come from the Teos hoard. Balcer notes 7 obverse and 10 reverse dies, these dies not previously noted.
