CILICIA, Tarsos, Gordian III, (A.D. 238-244), AE 36, issued A.D. 241, (18.75 grams), obv. Radiate bust to right of Gordian III, around, AVT K ANT GORDIANOS SEB, P to right in field, rev. TARSOV MHTPOLEWS, in middle field downwards AM K G B, the Emperor, wearing toga, standing to left, and Tranquillina standing to right, joining right hands, (S.-, BMC 281 p.218). Rough surfaces but very fine and very rare.

The issue was made to celebrate the marriage of Gordian to Tranquillina.
