SYRIA, Kingdom of, Antiochus VIII, (121-96 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.60 grams), Sidon mint, issued 196 S.E. = 117-116 B.C., obv. diademed head of Antiochus VIII to right, fillet border, rev. Zeus standing to left, crescent above head, holding star and sceptre, on right, BASILEWS ANTIOCOY, and to left EPI FANOVZ, below in exergue date ZqP, to left SIDO over IEP, over AS and monogram DIO, (S.7144, Houghton ACNAC 723, Rouvier 1274 [p.131],). Very fine/ good very fine, scarce.
