REPUBLIC, M. Aemilius Scaurus and Pub. Plautius Hypsaeus, (c.58 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, obv. King Aretas of Nabataea kneeling right beside camel M SCAVR over AED CVR, S C in field, rev. Jupiter in galloping quadriga to left, scorpion below horses, P HVPSAE/AED CVR, CAPTV on right, C.HVPSAE COS PREIVE in exergue. (S.299, Cr.422/1b). Dark tone on small flan, nearly extremely fine.
