SOUTHERN BRITAIN, Uninscribed Coinage, Iron age, Atrebatic type, Chichester region, (early 1st century B.C.), Copper unit, (2.54 grams), obv. crude Celticized helmeted head to right, with circular ornaments on back of the head. rev. Celticized cock to right, (S.-, Van A. -, Evans G9, and Burnett in Spink Num. Circular Dec. 1992 pps 340-2 for attribution of type). Fine - very fine and very rare, type on published by Evans and Burnett.

Ex. Find near Wittering in West Sussex, on January 7, 1995. $$ The issue is also of interest beyonf the above NC article because of it being one of the first issues, struck in Britain probably near Chichester, West Sussex.
