CELTIC ENGLAND, Iceni Coinage, Pratsugatus, (A.D. 55-60), silver unit, (1.14 grams), obv. double crescent emblem, rev. Celticized horse to right, with AESV under horse, (S.282, Van A. 775-1). Good very fine.

Sometime between the Claudian invasion of A.D.43 and the Icenian rebellion of Boudicca in A.D. 61, a disturbance in Icenian territory was suppressed by the Romans. The iceni were forced to surrender their arms and it is at this time Pratsutagus is thought to have come to the Icenian throne.
