PETER CUMMING & SONS, Adelaide, Ten shillings, currency note, proof on card, not dated, (185- printed), with provision for number, no watermark, vignette of Britannia looking over port scene, all within ornamental frame, printed by Allan & Ferguson, Glasgow, stating on front 'Ten Shillings. On presentation of our Orders to the value of twenty shillings, We, Peter Cumming & Sons, Promise to pay to the Bearer, One Pound Sterling, Adelaide, S.A.', black on white. Some minor discolouration on the back, otherwise extremely fine and extremely rare and possibly unique.
See comments on the earlier two lots. This proof was a projected issue, that apparently was not made into a circulating note. The issuer is only known from this example in proof printed in Glasgow, Scotland. Again another interesting historical note issued at a time and place important to Australian numismatics.
Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
