MCDONALD, Fisher & Co, Marble Bar, Western Australia, issued at Marble Bar, one pound, uniface currency note, dated July 24, 1900, (190- printed), number No.935, no watermark, circular value tablets in all corners, no imprint, 'ONE POUND' in value tablet across note, stating on front 'Pay on Demand the sum of One Pound', signed McDonald Fisher & Co, affixed with Western Australia penny red stamp, green on white. Some creases and folds, dirty areas on back, otherwise nearly very fine and very rare.
The issuer is noted by Vort-Ronald (p.23). See previous lots. Spink Noble Sale No.36 (lots 2724) had an example of this denomination. The serial number of this and the previous lot indicates a need and that Marble Bar (today almost deserted), supported a large population. Few sets of three notes exist today.
Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
