VALENTINIAN I (A.D. 364-375), gold solidus, Nicomedia mint, issued 364-367, Officina theta, obv. pearl diademed, draped and cuirassed bust to right of Valentinian I around DN VALENTINI ANVS PF AVG, rev. Valentinian standing facing head to right, holding labarum with chi-rho symbol and Victory, RESTITVTOR REIPVBLICAE around, SMNTheta in exergue (RIC 2a.5, cf.S.4088). Surface scratches on cheek, otherwise good very fine and scarce.
