MANUEL I, (1143-1180), electrum aspron trachy (scyphate), Constantinople mint, obv. Christ enthroned facing wearing nimbus, in hand the Gospels, rev. facing figures of the Virgin on right placing hand on head of Manuel I on left wearing divitision and chlamys, and holds a labarum and cross on globe, (S.1961, Hendy Pl.14,1). Large flan, weak in places, extremely fine.
