AUGUSTUS, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued 2 B.C. - A.D. 4 or later, obv. laureate head of Augustus to right, around CAESAR AV[GVSTVS DIVI] F PATER PATRIAE, rev. around [AVGVSTI F COS DESI]G PRINC IVVENT, in exergue C L CAESAR[ES], Gaius and Lucius Caesar on left and right, shield and spears between, simpulum on left and lituus to right, (S.479, RIC 207, BMC 533). Small flan, darkly toned, otherwise very fine.
