VITELLIUS, (A.D. 69), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 69, obv. laureate head of Vitellius to right, around [A V]ITELLIVS GER[MANICVS IMP], rev. Victory draped and seated to left, holding patera and palm, (S.755, RIC 71, BMC 4). Attractive and strong portrait, weakness in legend and some porosity on the reverse, otherwise good very fine/fine and rare.
Lot includes a photocopy of authentication of this denarius by the British Museum (1988).
