COMMODUS, (A.D. 180-192), imitative cast medal after original medallion by Giovanni Cavino (35.7 grams), obv. laureate bust of emperor to right, rev. P M TR P X IMP VI COS III P P, SALVS in exergue, Salus seated left holding patera feeding serpent coiled around the tree, before her a statue on a column, (Lawrence 64, Klawans 1 [p.97]). Very fine.
