Edward Panton - born Broadmarsh on 29 March 1845, educated in Hobart, died 5th June 1938. He lived in Launceston for over thirsty years where he was a hotel keeper. He was also involved in mining, was one of the first members of the Launceston Stock Exchange, Chairman of the Regatta Association for several years, served as an Alderman on the City Council for nine years and was Mayor in 1899 and 1900
