GROUP OF SIX: 1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star; Pacific Star; British War Medal 1939-45 with M.I.D.; Royal Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (GVIR) 1949-52. D/KX 71875 R.R.Tuniicliffe S.P.O. R.N. on first to fifth medals, KX 78175 R.R.Tunnicliffe S.P.O. H.M.S. Drake on last medal. Last medal has had name erased then re-impressed, all other medals impressed. Extremely fine.

Ex. Ross Sutton Collection. Robert Richardson Tunnicliffe, Stoker Petty Officer R.N. M.I.D.:L.G.: 17Mar1942 'For Skill and and enterprise in action against enemy submarines while serving on H.M.S. Jupiter'. H.M.S. Jupiter, a destroyer of 1,760 tons was sank in 27Feb1942 by a torpedo in the Java Sea. It seems that Tunnicliffe was a survivor and died while a Prisoner of War, as he died on 26Sep1944. His name is on the Plymouth Naval Memorial. Together with tally band H.M.S. Jupiter, letter for M.I.D., official condolence advice, photocopies, non Government issue P.O.W. medal unnamed.
