MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.044 grams), Magnesia mint, issued c.319-305 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, MOT monogram to left of throne, monogram **LIU* below throne, to right **ALEXAND[ROU]*, (cf.S.6730, Price 1962, BMC -, M.-, example in Hersh Collection). Small cut on obverse, otherwise very fine and very rare.
