EDWARD THE ELDER, (899-924), silver penny, portrait type, East Anglia area mint, (0.91 grams), obv. bust to left within centre, around [EA]DVVEARD E, rev. blundered legend IIOIIE//IGER[R upside down]I in two lines, divided by three crosses and trefoil of pellets above and below, moneyer Grimvald, (S.1084, N.651). Toned, broken edge missing 20% of coin, otherwise very fine and very rare.
