CHINA, Chou Dynasty, Middle to late period, (from 5th - 3rd century B.C.), large size hollow handled spade money type I (Wang Yu-Ch'uan), with pointed feet, uncertain letter in right field (Hsia?), Coole type similar to Hsia Ch'eng Hsien or Lower City County Seat of Easter Wei (South of contemporary Shuyang-hsien in Kiangsu), 40.1 grams, height 100mm, (cf.Coole Vol.1 365, p.147, cf.Sch.43, cf.TFP 16). Green oxidation on most of surface, character clear, otherwise very fine and very rare.
