MILNER & THOMPSON, Christchurch small size penny, Maori/Maori scene mule or pattern (A-; L.334h; Meek 35E). Red on obverse mostly bluish brown uncirculated and excessively rare, believed to be only the second known.
Meek advised Sutherland of his specimen in 1939. We sold the Baldwin specimen in Sale 79 (lot 884) for a record price for a New Zealand token.
