GROUP OF FOUR: Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE (Civil); Military Cross (GVR); British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. Lieut F.E.Armstrong A.I.F. on last two medals. First two medals unnamed, last two medals impressed. Very fine.

Ex.Ross Sutton Collection. M.B.E., M.C. C.G.: No.10 29Jan1920. M.C.:'Lt F.E.Armstrong, 55th Btn. During the attack on the Hindenburg line, north of Bellicourt, on 30th September, 1918, and 1st October, 1918, when the attacking troops, were held up by machine gun fire, he re-organised his men for the final charge on the machine gun nests. He personally led the charge with great courage and determination, and the enemy were quickly overcome. The result was that the advance of the whole line was allowed to continue'.
