EDWARD III, (1327-1377), gold quarter noble, Transitional Treaty period, issued 1361, double saltire stops in legend by Z, trefoils in spandrils and pellets at cusps, London mint, mm. cross potent, annulets in angles and pellet in centre on reverse, lis above lion in second quarter, (S.1501, N.1224, Schneider SCBI 47 No.67-68 same obverse die). Very fine and very rare variety.

Ex Gordon V. Doubleday Collection, Glendining's London, June 7-8, 1972 (lot 191) and previously from the L.A.Lawrence Collection, lot includes Doubleday ticket.
