WATERLOO MEDAL 1815, silver mount and ring type. Bt Major M. Ryan 2nd Batt 30th Reg Foot. Impressed. Good very fine.

M. Ryan confirmed on roll. Mathew Ryan, appointed Cornet 26th Dragoons, 3 June 1795, becoming Lieutenant on 25 April 1796, Captain in the 5th West India Regiment on 8 May 1801, Brevet-Major on 4 June 1813, Captain in the 30th Foot on 26 May 1814 and was placed on half pay as a Major in 1817. He served in the West Indies under Sir Ralph Abercromby; in Portugal under General Cuyler and in Flanders at the Battle of Waterloo. He received final promotion to Lieutenant-Colonel on 22 July 1830 and had died by 1840.
