Lieut J.E.Wilson 6th Bty A.F.A. Verbrandenmolen 11/3/16 on first, 282 Pte J.E.Wilson Vic Mtd Rifles on second, 2140 Sjt J.E.Wilson 3/F.A.Bde A.I.F. on third, Lieut J.E.Wilson A.I.F. on fourth and fifth. Military cross engraved, others impressed. Also Lavina gold wristwatch, Fremantle City Council to Cr J.A.Wilson MC On His Retirement 1923-1936 engraved on reverse (missing strap). Very fine. M.C. L.G.: 13May1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. While the battery was being subjected to very heavy shell fire, he showed splendid coolness in evacuating his men to places of safety. Though badly wounded later, he refused attention until the occupants of a dug-out, which had been blown in, had been extricated, personally supervising the work of the rescue party. His courage and endurance were of the highest order. With photographs (2), original letter in envelope informing award of MC to spouse, original letter of congratulations, child's school reward certificates (2) and unit research.
