TIBERIUS, (A.D. 14-37), silver denarius, Lugdunum mint, issued A.D. 14-37, (3.870 grams), obv. laureate head of Tiberius to right, around TI CAESAR DIVI AVG F AVGVSTVS, rev. PONTIF MAXIM, Livia seated to right, with vertical sceptre and branch, (S.1763 [£375 EF], RIC 30, BMC 48, H.916 [304]). Round and well centred, unevenly toned, good very fine or better and rare in this condition.
Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 53 (lot 2363). Of Biblical importance as the issue is often described as the Tribute Penny (Mark 12: 14-17).
