BOIOTIA, Thebes mint, Aris.. and Pheido.. Magistrates, 363-338 B.C., AE 13, (2.01 grams), Obv. youthful head of Herakles to left wearing lion skin headdress, Rev. club to left placed above bow upwards, above **[ARIS] / [F]EIDO all within incuse concave circle. (cf.S.2406, BCD 563, BMC 180-181, SNG Cop. 361). Dark tone, very fine and rare.

Ex BCD Collection (Triton IX, lot 549c illustrated). This is an issue in bronze from one of these magistrates that had a corresponding silver stater issue (Hepworth 91). A rather interesting issue mentioning two magistrates which is better known in bronze as individual magistrates each issuing its own coinage.
