JULIUS CAESAR, (c.46-5 B.C.), silver denarius, Spanish mint, (3.942 grams), obv. Venus diademed head to right, small Cupid behind at shoulder, rev. Gaulish captive and Gallia captive seated beneath trophy, CAESAR in exergue, (S.1404, Syd. 1014, Cr.468/1, C.Julius Caesar or RSC 13). Slightly off centred obverse and some weakness, attractive grey patina, otherwise good very fine and very scarce.
