ANTONINIUS PIUS, (A.D. 138-161), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued 158-159, (3.174 grams), obv. ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P XXII, laureate head to right, rev. COS IIII, distyle shrine with arched roof containing statue of the Genius of the Senate standing on a pedestal, (S.4077, RIC 285, RSC 331). Good very fine, very scarce.

The precise location of the shrine is uncertain but Hill believes it to be places in the Roman Senate House, the Curia Julia. (Sear p.212).
