CARAUSIUS, (A.D. 287-293), billon antoninianus, London mint, (3.740 grams), obv. radiate cuirassed bust of Carausius to right, around IMP CARAVSIVS P F AVG, rev. around SALV S AVG, Salus standing to left by altar, holding patera and sceptre, B E either side, MLXXI in exergue, (S.3563 [£150], RIC 162); another of uncertain mint, (3.118 grams), obv. radiate cuirassed bust of Carausius to right, around IMP C CARAVSIVS P F AV, rev. around MONET[A AVG], Moneta standing to left holding patera and cornucopiae, S C either side, (cf.S.3578 [£150], cf.RIC 470). Cleaned, nearly very fine and both rare.
